If you are running R134A your low side will be a little higher than the old freon and that will be around 38-42 PSI. Your hi side should run up around 175-250 or whatever the high side pressure switch is set for to kick the fan on. This will then drop the high side pressure back down and cycle again. Have you ever flushed the AC stystem out with cleaner. If you had debris in the system it maybe worth the time to flush it out and stick a new drier on the system afterwards.

if it has a sight glass on the dryer best to fill it by that just put enough freon in until the bubbles dissapear

Do not disassemble anything. My relative is a HVAC tech so he advised me to use an acid that HVAC service guys use to clean condenser coils on home A/C units and sprayed some acid with spray bottle on my evaporator through a gap after I pulled my cab filter out. After few minutes I washed it off with water and the evaporator is clean like never before. Just put a towel under the evaporator so the water does not run into your carpet. Also if you use this acid be aware that it is very strong so do not store it in a spray bottle because it will eat through that plastic and leak.

The evaporator is in the hvac combo box forward of the passenger seat. The low side is low pressure and is the big line at the compressor. It's also known as the suction side (compressor inlet). The high side is high pressure (compressor outlet).
