Kenworth w900b is the way to go! I get sick of looking at all these Pete's. No disrespect to anyone who owns one, they are still great trucks. It's kinda like a Harley Street Glide, everyone has one.
bzinger Thanks this. -
Again, not about looks or comfort. Its about durability and cost. Any driver will drive any truck, even old beat up cabover if he is paid right. I rather get an older truck and have very little payment and just up keep and pay the driver well vs getting a new one and having payments...

Yeah I gotta admit theres time I miss my 780 Volvo apartment on wheels but I don't miss the 2800 a month payment ...payment on my classic is 800 a month and nice to be able to afford to work less and enjoy time at home ..not hurried and worried anymore.

Here's your answer! -
Durability goes back to that quality thing and most often cost more up front. Kinda like you get what you pay for. They all had same motors, tyranny sand rears, you just gotta find one that has been taken care of isn't falling apart.
I also agree that the w900 would be right on par with a 379 and are built to last. I don't particularly like the one piece hood and fender combo but that is just my personal preference.
If I were to look for an older aero truck it would be a t600 or a t 800 but they are pricey also.
I would love to have a t800 in good condition.
I also know for a fact that some people do care what kind of truck you put them in and will often work for less to drive a better or nicer truck. No matter which one you get you can still only afford to pay so much. -
Why T600? I found couple, most have 475hp or less but there is few with 500 ISX. What makes T600 better then Classic? Seems smaller
-
You don't need allot of power. Used to only have 200 or so in the late 50's- early 60's. Lots of trucks had 150-170 HP.

You can still buy the T800.

You really have to look at both trucks individually and see which is cleaner which was more well kept and that type of thing.
You also need to look at what other repairs have been done to these trucks? What are the repairs need to be done to these trucks? You are talking about older trucks that have a lot of miles on them. Did someone just put on new brakes drums s cams slack adjusters, etc? New tires Springs shocks airbags bushings steering box radiator and on and on and on and on.
You really have to look at something like that on an individual basis. Just because a transmission and rears were done, doesn't mean that there isn't a whole lot that's undone. Just because one truck is less expensive doesn't mean a lot of work has not been done to it. Then again, you often get what you pay for.
Never judge a truck just by its name. Judge it by where it has been and what condition it is in now.
And no matter what you buy that is that old with that many miles on it, unless you have a colossal list of recent repairs someone did to it, be ready to dig into your pocket well beyond what you have paid for it, no matter what brand of truck it is.
