The cabs are all wired the same. You don't need to change the dash. All you need is the wiring harness that plugs into the cab bulk head on one end and has a Cat ecm plug on the other end. It's not as complicated as you're thinking. Kustom's harness's will work, but I would price a Paccar harness at your Pete dealer first. It might be cheaper than 3 grand.
My truck is a 08 389 glider with a Cat in it. The Paccar part # for the cab to engine harness is P92-3086-12241. I believe it will work on your truck as well.

KHP offers a complete kit to swap engines. There's more to this than just a TPS. 1,250 gets you this kit. 3,250 is a complete package to put you're engine in any chassis.

can any one tell me what im looking at as far as price goes to put together a 389 glider this days

I don't know but it seems like it is getting close to a new truck price. Larson's Pete in Springfield, MO had some 388's Kits with no engine or trans and they had coffin bunks for around $89,000. Engine, trans, labor, misc.......... it is going to add up big time if you have to go and buy all that and then rebuild them. A few years back a Pete 379 flat top glider with no engine or trans went for around $70,000.
Back in 1988 a kit with no engine, trans or rears would run less then $30,000. -

talked to hoovers and they old me it had to be a isx or a 70 pin cat to use in a 389 unless you wanted to do some extensive work
