Deal with them after Christmas! -
-
Deliver the load yer on! Fill the truck with fuel and go home!
Don't ask...TELL!
IF I could hire a driver that would stay out over Christmas, I'd fire his ##### on the spot!
I'd pay the fuel to getcha home were you driving one of my trucks and tell ya...Merry Christmas!
Go home Son,,,do it now!...go to line 5 and go home! -
Thank goodness twolane isn't responsible for all of the nation's transportation needs and demands. You new drivers better think twice before you take twolane's "advice" because in the real world, you'll end up in the unemployment line with a DAC record that will probably make you un-hireable as a returning driver. There's airplanes and additional terminals if you need to get home that bad.
NavigatorWife Thanks this. -
I could drive home, if I chose to drive thru the gate and out run highway patrol! Im trapped in the terminal in el paso. No way in hell SWIFT is gunna let me out, and bobtail 450 miles to phoenix on their dime. Ive been sitting here for 50 hours now and all they manage to do is send me pre plans to go north or east. Ive declined 8 loads in 2 days and told them that im not moving unless im going straight to phoenix and delivering/dropping by tomorrow night. No luck.

Ya have to..."man-up" once in awhile, and if they/you won't listen,,,then ya gotta explain it to them/you in a way they/you,,, understand. I could give a s#!t less about the nations "transportations problems" at Christmas!
This is CHRISTMAS!
IF you ask/require your drivers to be away from home on Christmas,,,I'm glad yer not running things & I'd quit you on the spot! There's too many GOOD companys that need GOOD drivers for you to be saying that. -
I know everyone's in different situations as far as the money they need to make for the family. But if you have young ones Christmas is a special time to be shared with them.
In all my years I missed allot of stuff with my kids. That's part of what we do. But... I never missed a Christmas. There were a few times when it was the wee hours of Christmas morning when I got there. but I did get there.
My advise to those who are feeling stuck. Don't be stupid and throw your own self under the bus. But if you requested to be home and the company paid you lip service and then left you out. Start looking to change.
Above all, whatever they call it ( trucking), it's a job. A means to an end. Don't throw away your family for it.
Sad part is your kids won't ever remember the sacrifices you made for them along the way. They will remember you weren't there. -
I just got a load headed to nogales. A lot closer, but not there yet!
