I think you need to think about what you are doing and why. Sometime you just have to suck it up. You only have to go through training once and need to get through it. Deciding to ask to go home in the middle just seems crazy to me. Even before I was a truck driver, I traveled a lot for work. There are times I have missed birthdays, holidays and anniversaries. It just may be it is what you have to do to provide for your family.

I hate to say it but six weeks is going to be the norm when your on your own anyway.
I am not trying to be mean or make fun of you in any way but I don't think you should pursue this any farther. I think it is just going to be a waste of your time and money. Get home as soon as possible so you can start getting some cash flow in. Take the whole trucking thing as a learning experience.

Is that what the recruiters are saying or the drivers?

So figure you will be out 3 1/2 to 4 weeks. That's just how the industry works. At any rate I still think you are wasting your time pursuing this. This is why I usually tell the newbies it is vary rare to get a local job out of school. Because A. it really is and B. You need to be fully prepared to go over the road if you are going to commit $6000 to go to school. I know you probably don't want to give up and are doing your best to push through but in all honesty this just doesn't sound like your gig. If its not your gig you aren't going to make any money out there. You have to really hustle and know what you are doing. So you are going to end up missing your family and you daughter growing up so that you can drag around country trying to mutter through it. Don't think of yourself as a quitter. Trust me, trucking is not for everyone. You gave it a shot. Your only a quitter if you stop trying to succeed! Find something that you can succeed at.

You miss your kids and wife. The reason you took this job was to provide for them. The way I see it your doing it and making it hard on yourself. I myself have appreciated your post and in a weird way has given me a more positive light. I know nothing about trucking and cant really offer you any useful information other than you are doing it and give yourself a little credit. I sincerely hope it gets better for you in your homesickness and confidence, try to find some positives, one you have a wife and kids, how much you will enjoy seeing them when you do. Just may-be if you can get over your hurdles and focus on learning to make the money line it might be worth it.. I would trade places today just to get my training over with, good luck to ya.
