I think they may have shifted a few roads around since then. They may have moved the bowling alley to a new location in a new building too. 151 has been re-done and is 4 lane now.

As my instructor at school always told us. Just Drive the Truck. Aint that big a deal. Driving is the easy part. Take a deep breath and think positive.

Interesting development: Apparently USA Truck does not require a road test for student drivers. If I had known that I would have applied here first. So, I have made it past day 1. At least I know that I will not be released for failing a road test. Thursday is the last official day of orientation. We'll see how the rest of the week goes.

I would still let them know your situation, so they provide you one of their lead instructors. This will help you be successful. I know the guy that trained me would would have pitched a fit If I was unable to atleast up shift through the gears and recover a missed shift. He was a great trainer and gave me a pass when missed a shift on a down shift and helped me become a skilled driver. It seems that most of the training companies have trainers or finishers with high expectations.

Would probably be a little less stressful situation if you go out on a company truck. Seems alot of folks get trained by L/O or O/O. I can see where that could be a problem.

    Not to question you,

but I thought a road test was mandatory. Maybe not if going with a trainer.

    Perhaps you lucked out.

Be up front with your trainer, so nobody gets hurt !!

Good Luck, keep us updated !!!

Maybe it is the way they are wording it. Did you hear this from a recruiter? They may just be testing you on the premises. Central Ref does not take you on a road test either but they test your skills on premises with a series of tests of backing and cones and such.
