Totally agree with you. Not a big fan of regional at all. I’d rather be out for a longer time and then be home for a little bit longer. I’ll get better rest from work in the truck then trying to race home and get a few hours sleep. - @Chinatown I think he prefers OTR as well
I was actually trained on a regional account but I hated the idea of only coming home for a 34 every week. So now I'm otr. It's kinda nice! But I would like to go local eventually. I just know local guys run hard and I don't know if I'd be able to handle 5 days of that a week. Thus my 4 day week question.
I work food service and run a 4 10 schedule they only thing I dont care for is my day off during the week is thursday but other than that I like my schedule 4 days a week about 12 hour days.
Some regional companies take on part-timers. The one I work for in Grand Rapids Michigan had guys that would work off and on.- They pulled dry van.
When my dad delivered milk, ages ago, he only worked 3 days a week. But they were long days. Local company, though.
It's hard work, yes. If you have a good work ethic and stick with it there's no reason your body won't adapt to the work in short order. And while some guys say that it's too hard on your body, it's a young man's game, etc, if you are careful and don't abuse your body you can work it straight into retirement. Plenty of older guys still running ramps and humping cases into stores.
US Mail contract carrier. They have quite a few runs that are 4 days one week 3 days the next week rotating. In south Texas it pays $25 an hour but no time and half for over 40.
