i have a firestik 4ft and a heavy duty spring. I bought a workman pm5 magnet mount and i plan to put it on the trunk of my car or maybe the roof. will this mount hold going 60mph or faster or if i hit branch. If not, what is a good mount?

The product description states that it works best with base loaded antennas like a Wilson 2000, a tri- mag mount would probably be better for top loaded and heavier antennas. When I had a F150 ( metal roof) I used a Wilson 1000 magnet antenna and was always pleased with the performance.

Does Firestick have adjustable stinger on top so you can set swr?

I have a Tram Triple 5, mag mount on center of my trucks roof, with a President Alabama on it, works absolutely awesome. When I switch to my 4'firestick, it stays put at 75mph and smokes the frequency. I like both antenna because they are NOAA weather alert capable. If you get a good SWR match , it is vital to a good broadcast and ya won't blow your finals.

I can't comment on a Workman pm5 magnet mount's ability to handle wind and overhead obstructions because I've never used one. I have used several types of Wilson and K40 magnet mounts ranging from 35 to 63 inches in length, and I can say that I have never had one of them fail at any legal highway speed or in high winds or from hitting tree branches overhanging the streets. I suppose they could fail if someone installed an overly long or top-heavy stinger on them, however.

    Hey Mr Cargo618,
I failed to mention, I know those 5 inch single magnets are kinda dicey for a thicker rod /fiberglass like the 4 foot firestick, perfect for a 2 footer with the medium duty firestick spring, but ive heard the 5 inch get a little sloppy in the trees with a thin 40 inch whip, so I wouldn't do that nice 4 foot firestick unless you use the triple 5 magnets, which once you stick on your trunk, roof, you will need an arm lile Popeyes to get it off, Lol. Cheers
