Are these laws for COMMERCIAL VEHICLES? Where did you find this info?

California will ticket you for driving with 4-ways.

What I see are drivers activating 4-ways if they frop 2 mph below their cruise speed and for every conceivable other situation, but seldom when backing. smh

General traffic laws apply equally to commercial vehicles unless otherwise specified in law. I'm not going to say it doesn't happen but things like flasher use doesn't tend to differentiate.

Reason why I put on my hazard lights on is because when it mostly raining so hard to the point I can't see it nobody else can than I turn em on. But yeah, others I do it helping a trucker who's truck is struggling to go up a hill or having a engine problems with it. I'll do for many ways. Also, helping out a oversized load so that truck will be visible for others drivers on the road. One more thing, is that if there is a road working construction or a vehicle wreck and I see emergency flashing lights I'll turn on my flashers to alert other drivers to slow down and to be caution on the road. There are so many ways to use your flashers as a truck driver.

Putting your flashers on may get some to look up and pay attention, if it is a sudden stop with no out the flashers will be on until I see others in control behind me, then when you get stopped leave a bit of room for emergency responders to do the work needed.

I might be having a problem and need to get to a suitable place to breakdown, I will thro flashers on as it starts exploding leaving whatever flying everywhere and head for the next exit or a long wide straight area so I can be seen. I have seen on a sharp corner with no warning devices a truck in both lanes, do not care if it will self destruct more, drag that carcass to a safe place. even if it a flat steer.

I miss the old disco days so I just turn them on when I want to show my stuff.

Oversize should have escorts, flags, and flashing light on their own, no?
Do you turn on your headlights when it's raining hard? I see a lot of "truckers" who will put on the 4 ways, but leave their headlights off, which makes no sense.

If I see a line of stopped vehicles up ahead I will throw on the flashers as I start braking, just to give a heads up to those behind me.

    special-k Thanks this.
