In Florida it is against the law to drive with flashers on in rain. But you see people doing it all the time!
Left lane 35 mph, flashers on in a pouring rain and usually with no headlights on! Idiots!
4 way / hazard lights

We’ll, most states that it is illegal in also state it is legal if it is to indicate a traffic hazard! Driving under the minimum speed limit or significantly under the speed limit, such as the 50 MPH mentioned does indicate a traffic hazard! So it is technically legal. Also, when you are coming upon a slow down and you have vehicles behind you that might not be able to see around you, meaning everyone, it is legal to use your hazards to indicate brake lights ahead, a slow down or a stoppage as they are all traffic hazards!!
Driving with them on for any other reason would clearly be illegal!Last edited: Jul 30, 2023

You’re supposed to put them on at 45 MPH. I will sometimes turn them on sooner if I know I’m rapidly slowing and theres a big truck behind me and it looks like he might get boxed in by 4 wheelers if he aint slowing too.

.... i don't really spend much time looking at laws and reg's and such , but if i'm doing 15 / 20 less than speed limit , to my way of thinking , i'm a moving hazard and until i'm back to speed then 4-ways. Also if theres a slow down or stopped traffic ahead for what ever reason , i do the same to give a heads up and warning.
If you do cool , if not cool too.
Never had a issue running them in any state i've been to. -
I got my CDL in the latter part of 2000. My trainers (two of whom were from California) taught me to use the hazards anytime I was at or below 45 MPH on a highway or freeway because moving significantly slower than the speed limit is a traffic hazard.
What I really don't understand is why people here in Texas and in the South put their four-ways on when it rains. Unless the rain is so heavy that you shouldn't be driving, just turn your headlights on and everybody will be able to see your taillights just fine.tscottme, Puppage, AModelCat and 1 other person Thank this. -
