Never hurts to check.. sometimes things happen on the paperwork end. I live in NC and wrote the Head of DMV to actually put a line on the information about the license to include the Certification level and med card expiration date so anybody logging in can see if their information is correct in the system. This would only be visible to the person logging in to see their license information.

US Xpress would probably hire you if you need training and they have dedicated accounts out of Hagerstown and your orientation would be in Shippensburg PA about 30 miles from you. If feel like going with them drop me a line.

I drove for them many moons ago; they offered me the DG account and I turned it down; stayed out 3 to 4 weeks at a time, nothing dedicated..just random. No complaints; they were fair to me as well. I've just known many a rookie fail on Dollar accounts.... even though NOW I'm seasoned enough to do the "creative backing," I'm too old to do the unloading. :(

There's always hope you just need to find a company that will give you the right training or you could find an O/O that's looking for someone to go team and get your training that way. Try canvassing a few truck stops look for the small operators just ask them if their looking for a driver, what's the worst that can happen?

Abilene will hire you. They hired me with a 20 year old CDL. 4 weeks on trainer's trucks and they cut me loose in my own.

We run through MD all the time and there is a NE regional position so getting home won't be an issue.

Swift and Knight also offered me jobs if you don't like green trucks.

I don't recommend the Dollar accounts to anyone. The dedicated account I was thinking of was the Tractor Supply account. You can see it and all of our trailers right off of I 81

I once found a O/O in Carroll County Maryland near the PA line, way way up in the hills relative to the city.

He told me that they leave out for a round trip to Louisiana for Seafood and reload in Hanover for pretzels or cookies back to Louisiana. Flat pay of 1200 a week before taxes which was almost three times what I was making. Provided I am on time with both pick up and delivery. Otherwise I just lost 600 for being late.

I said to him right. When do you want me to leave out of here? His pete was sitting out back with a dane and carrier reefer.

He paused a minute. Opened his biggest drawer pulled out a stack of application forms completed. Stuck a drafting table ruler vertical next to it. 14 some inches of filled applications, mostly 100 miles radius.

I did not get the job. It was a good meetup, interview all business and ready to go within 30 minutes, I kept a bag packed in the car plus some money etc. Basically a minuteman.

If there is any regret I have in this world it would be that. I think my youth worked against me. 25 did not mean a #### thing to him. I was still a kid to him being about 60.
