I'm not sure. I'm away from the truck till tomorrow. -
Why do I get the feeling someone replaced the spacer plate under the valve covers with a used one off a 2ws. It's probley a 1lw.
-
could be i guess. the truck has 750,000 miles, everything under the hood appears original. but i've only had it since 700, so i don't know much history on it.
-
Is it a 1999?
-
How could a 40 pin ECM run a 70 pin motor with the difference in timing sensors? I'm thinking swaan has the answer.
-
The engine is a 2ws. I seen the serial # stamped in the block. It has a ecm like underpsi posted.
-
Unless someone went through the trouble of converting a 70 pin to a 40pin for some strange reason.
The tell tale sign is the cam sensor. If its coming out of the timing case with the wiring facing the side of the driver side hood then its a 40pin, if its a 70 pin the cam sensor will be on the back on the timing case just above the air compressor and the sensor will be 90 deg. -
Talk about a lot of trouble...for what??? Is a 40 pin superior to a 70 pin in any way at all? The only thing I can think of would be to be able to run true pre-low NOx files.

Jack,
they never managed to call me back today. did they know what they were doing?
