47 year old unemployed ex-professor

I am too one of those who are about to embark on an OTR career change. HOWEVER...I believe...I am doing this because I want to and not out of work/wage/can't find a better job desperation.

I am a 15 year accountant (13 year CPA) who is simply sick of being chained to a desk and being stressed out all the time dealing with others problems. I am embarking on what will likely result in a 60% pay cut to do this.

My working and benefit-providing wife and 16 year old son are in total support. My son is well beyond his years in maturity and understands that I need to do this.

I fully expect to be a part of the minority who will be posting here a year from now discussing what I have learned and how I successfully completed my first year behind the wheel.

I will not expect to be treated like royalty.
