I was given the exact same info, just a bit differently, but it flipped the light switch on for me: turn the wheel toward your problem.

Are you backing with the pup 28ft. or van 48 ft trailer? Take your time and don't be afraid to get out and see where you are. Ask your instructor for tips, that's what they are there for.
Somehow by the grace of God I passed my skills test. Not sure how. Backing will get easier in time and now I dont have to worry about 3 times in a row in 3 mins. Next week is road training. Hopefully it goes easier
Update: Passed CDL with flying colors! DMV guy said it was the best pretrip he has ever seen. No points on backing and 1 point on driving, but he said Illinois will never allow a perfect road score. So on to doubles week and then road coach week!!
