No target date. We'll work on it as we have time. Swapping the cab from the aluminum frame to the rolling chassis may be an adventure, but we are going to have the engine and trans in it before we swap the cab!

In all honesty the cab swap is a walk in the park I can walk you through that when you get ready

"the crack would reappear each time and extend a little further" Ends of a crack are high stress points. Would have had a better chance drilling at the ends of the crack to relieve stress then welding. The method is called stop/end drilling. Too late this time. You mentioned Lock and Stitch, there are others such as Irontite crack repair.

About the only difference in the chassis is the aluminum frame has air track and the "new" one is air leaf. It's nice having an example to go look at.

IDK if respect is the correct term .. I would say it’s more of a question about their sanity

The problem was the fear of drilling clear through the block into the oil gallery abd getting shavings in there. We could have dropped the pan and tried to collect shavings, and tried to flush them out of the oil gallery, but rather than take that gamble we opted to start with a better block.

I'm not disagreeing with you. Access to the area while in the frame was challenging, so once we pulled the engine we chose to start with (I hope) a better block.
