Yeah, they put me in a truck a little while ago....only to get my feet wet and put me in dispatch, which is where I will be before this year comes to an end. I am enjoying the heck out of the road though!

yeah I suppose...I don't do much freeway driving though, only when I am in the bay area. Mostly back country, through the hills, some mountains. Lots of lakes, beautiful scenery most of the time!!

I learned on a 10 speed in truck school, then bought a truck with a 13 speed and figured it out easily enough. I had always heard of them "mixing sticks", but, always worked for companies that only had 10's or 13's, that is until one day I hired on at Jack B. Parson out of Ogden, Ut. doing beets with bottom dumps in Id. My truck was a 10, but I knew we had about 8 trucks in the fleet with 4and4's or 5and4's and I knew one day I would come to work and my truck would be in sick bay and the boss would put me in a 4and4. And I asked myself if I would cop to not ever driving one or just get in it and try to fake it. Well, that day came and I just got in and faked it and really surprised myself and did OK. I really liked the 5and4, IF, all the gears worked as they should and the tranny wasn't all beat to hell-o.

Man did that bring back memories!!! First truck I ever drove was Dad's B-Model.
It had the Mack Quadraplex transmission just like this one too. The main and brownie were in a single case and the brownie shifter was closest to you. -

Most old 4X4s had cables you could take the slop out of but then they went to those darn rods and I hated them.
