Just went through this area Thursday afternoon, and the whole area is getting a repave

 

Truck was doing 73 mph at the time of impact-within the legal speed limit. Wouldn’t be surprised if it had the cruise control engaged.

 

Narcotics we’re on the part of the 4 wheeler. Either way,it was an illegal U-turn that caused the wreck.

 

It doesn't matter what caused the wreck, the truck driver is at fault. There have been many times, someone ahead of me in a car would do something incredibly stupid, and the reason they didn't get cremated by me, was I was paying attention. I rarely had a truck with speed control, remember, when you go off the road( fall asleep) or hit something( distracted driving, as the case here), the speed control reacts by flooring the throttle until the brakes, if ever, are applied.

 

The charges brought against the 4 wheeler say otherwise. Had her friend lived she would be facing charges as well,not only for making the illegal U-turn but causing the accident resulting in death to her children (vehicular homicide/manslaughter).

 

If you look at the aerial video, you can see the crossover where they would have u-turned. It looks like only yards from where he hit them. He was in the slow lane. I bet they shot right accross the fast lane and right in front of him.

 

I know that,,you're missing my point. I'm saying, a good truck driver should see that coming, and I don't mean to brag,,,okay, maybe a little, but I've had plenty of situations where a 4 wheeler pulled a doozy in front of me, and it was only because I was anticipating their move, not texting or whatever, and catastrophe was avoided. Anticipating what 4 wheelers were going to do, is, or at least was part of operating an 80K pound vehicle on public roads. You're SUPPOSED to be the professional, not them, and that includes not running into anything. Sorry, my record speaks for itself.

When you are given a license to operate a motor vehicle (whether it’s a passenger car,motorcycle or a CMV) you’re expected to operate said motor vehicle safely and responsibly-it least that’s the way it SHOULD BE! A lot of licensing bureaus across the country have been slacking off in that aspect.

Driving is a PRIVILEGE-NOT A RIGHT!

Just as much as I’m held to a higher standard as a professional driver I hold others to a higher standard who share the use of the roads with me-regardless of what class drivers license they possess!

As it is,that young lady is looking at serious charges for the accident and the narcotics (which the authorities can say she was possibly impaired while driving/pulling that U-turn). And I’m pretty sure Arizona takes a heavy handed approach on such issues (a.k.a. “let’s go to prison”).
