    The other big thing I preach to new GPS users is this: A GPS is only as good as it's last map update, and that update is usually 6-8 months BEHIND when it's released. Get one with free lifetime map updates. With Garmin (xxxxLM) models, you get quarterly updates for the life of the GPSr.

    I've owned GPSr's since before they had maps.. I remember thinking my Garmin eMap (my first with maps) was the greatest thing since sliced bread.. Now it's just used for Geocaching.. But it's still a great GPSr.

    in terms of window mounts blocking your view.... Im 6'3, and in a volvo 670, with the Rand 720 mounted at the bottom of the window, resting on the top of the dash, the only part of my view blocked, is a bit of the hood... NONE of my "road" view is covered.
