The answer is; You do not give near enough information and without looking at there P&L and balance sheets no one will ever know. If your question is "Does anyone know of a family trucking company this size that makes a profit?" I would say yes, I know of many.

 

I would say, yes, it can be done. But, you need to run a really tight ship.

Good mpg trucks wont hurt anything either.

Also a few more trucks wouldn't hurt.

 

As someone said, it's hard to say from the information posted but from other companies I have worked for I'd say it would be tough to make a go with that ratio of non-driving personel. I can't imagine what 3 people would do in an office for 5 trucks unless they are engaged in some other business as well. One of the BFI's I used to work for shot for a 6 to 1 ratio of drivers to non-driver employees.

 

Did they interview you to be the CFO? If not decide if you want to work there and if you do show up and do your job.

Why is it that people that don't have any "skin in the game" all of a sudden are an expert and know how to run someone else's business?

 

Not enough info. in your first post to say "yes" or "no"...........suffice it to say there are plenty of family outfits about that size doing just fine; and also some that are not!!
