Breathalyzer the same time you pee. Has to read .000 or it's considered a failed test.
Didn't have a test for almost 2 years, then had 3 in 5 months. Two of those were urine and breathalyzer.

But so what if it the breathalyzer doesn't read 000. For example I haven't drove a CMV since last week. I got the email about needing to go take a random drug test and my wife drove me to the testing center and I did it on a day I wasn't even working. What if I had a beer with lunch before I went there? Just having a CDL doesn't mean one can't drink in their off time.
-
They won't have you do a random while you're off duty.
-
I am owner/op no one knows if I am on or off duty but me?
-
Well I don't know then. Are you on paper? Call your consortium and ask.
-
Then simply don't send your driver (you) to get tested. The only legal time a driver can get a random alcohol test is on duty, or right before or after. The owner (you) has I believe 30 days to send the driver (you) to get tested. Just do it after the next time you work.wis bang Thanks this.

Yes on paper. Most driving is local with no logging. I only need to actually log four to six days a month. The local driving isn't everyday either. We just use the truck moving our own equipment between job sites.
I am not calling them I don't want to stir up a hornets nest and make them start hassling me. I have been a part of the consortium for five years and have done three drug tests - the initial and two randoms. Never had a random alcohol test nor did I even know it was a thing. I mean I assume you would get one if you were involved in an accident or something but I just don't understand a random alcohol test. -
So in other words it is a completely pointless regulation. I could drive around drunk everyday and then just wait until I was sober to go take their test if I wanted to.
-
Do you drink at work?
-
I could be wrong, but I think one of our members was tripped up by that pointless regulation.
