Absolutely disagree. While the pay scale is obviously very low, no one forces anyone to work for these minimum pay outfits.

Welcome to Louisiana ... flashing lights mean the station is closed ... no flashing lights, station is open. Contrary to the other 47 states ... is the great state of Louisiana trying to trap unaware drivers and profit from it? ... Nah,never!

I believe this will be one of those live and learn experiences. Running a scale has always been a big no no in trucking. Like one poster said, its best, if you can do it safely, to just pull off on the shoulder at the scalehouse if you miss the sign and go in and talk to them, especially if you are hauling HazMat. If you run it and they see it, you can count on them coming after you.

NO, Judges don't reduce fines as a general practice. What they may do if you present yourself as lacking the funds is to setup a payment plan. Sometimes you can get the prosecutor to reduce the charge but nothing is guaranteed.

Plus the added court costs on top of the fines.

The officer is not required at first hearings. This is where you pled . You can rest assured the officer will be there for trial if you pled not guilty and go to trial.

Where they have you is it is more expensive to fight the ticket because of lost work and traveling expenses.
