The engine had 560k miles on it. Stated in post. I doubt it was under any warranty. And was a severe use truck to start.
No core credit for a mechanical failure is BS unless they can prove it was caused by driver abuse, alteration or sabotage.
Paccar is as expected doing nothing other than offering to sell me a new motor for $38k and not giving me anything for the core. The truck was out of warranty and although i did ask if they'd help out they haven't. At this point i've purchased a 2012 MX 13 that i found with 120k miles on it for $5k and are in the process of swapping motors now. Now i have a 3,000lbs paper weight in my shop to rob parts off of for the remaining trucks i guess
I just want to say that I didn't expect paccar to help and i'm not upset with them that they didn't. A warranty is what it is and when it's gone it's gone
I’m curious if paccar will recall the Cummins supplied def catalyst as part of Cummins big recall... also curious if that was what caused me to get 4 nox sensors on my 2015 mx with 575,000 miles on it
Have a truck down for three weeks with same issue right now. Covered under warranty. Truck has 240,965 miles. No overspeeds logged. Overehead set @ dealer @ 40,000 miles. Getting new cam and ALL rollers. Here is some pics for you @daf105paccar .
Normal use. 2016 T880 pulls a blow can hauling mostly cement. MX 455 with Ultrashift plus. 20,000 mile oil changes with oil analysis every time. Genuine Paccar filters. Oil is Connoco Phillips 76 Guardol ECT 15W-40. First iron issue we have had with MX. Have 29 of them and this is one of the lower mileage ones. #### happens???
Every engine has something ,some part where it is at it weakest. With the MX 13 i would say that is it. But Volvo's can have a similiar issue(the "little wheel" on the cam can seize) Is rare but it happens. Aldough here Paccar is quite good about it. @spsauerland any damage to the block? Ps the MX11 has a completely different design.
Bore for lifter was scratched/scored, but I was told it cleaned up fine with a hone. Doesn't seem to be a common issue like like Mack Etech Cam rollers or rollers in Cummins ISX fuel pumps. Crappy part is if cam has to come out, engine has to come out.
