I think they are all the same. The extra nickel sounds good but idk what for. In my opinion if your looking for a good builder that your gonna not use anything much but the block look for a low horsepower motor out of like a single axle dump or little daycab. Odds are lower miles and the low horsepower blocks are way less prone to have problems in the lower bores. A cracked liner flange is more likely to be from a wore lower bore letting the liner Rock over too far or a repaired lower that isn’t perfectly true. Getting them true is not easy even for the experienced. The crevice seal liners from PAI or IPD is what I use on any that show the slightest in the bottom. That wide band will help hold that liner from rocking. The bigger the fire the more they wear. That’s the main problem with the C16 and especially C18. The bore is so big and stroke so long when it comes around the bottom it puts pressure on the side of liner. Horsepower and ##### got something in common. We spend a lifetime and a fortune in seek of it.

I’d like to build one for my W9L or my ‘75 A model needle nose. There’s a 400 7FB JWAC setting in my FIL’s uncles shop, that came out of a dump truck, that he has no intention of using. I know that’s a little different animal than what we’ve been discussing but it’s not as if there’s many old cat motors in the area, at my disposal. I know of a guy who’s got a 4MG ATA that he bought for his sawmill. He used it for 2 days and decided it wasn’t gonna pull down and had too much torque for the blade head. Said it was very dangerous turning that blade. Running like you run isn’t how I really run. You’re running in the big hole for hours and hours on end, into the wind, long unnoticeable grades,……… things that can really get an engine, transmission and rears hot. I’m on an end dump, poverty wagon and the little short haul pot loads I got. The law watches me closer than I like around here so, the extra power up to 75mph and how quickly I can get it there is kinda my wheelhouse. I’ve currently got 3:36’s in my L and it’d do it a favor to have some shorter legs but #### it’s nice when I’m on the big road.

Pull that JWAC off put it on air to air and leave pump, timing, and AFRC alone. The 400 jwac had more fuel delivered that an ATAAC 425 the the CAC made that much difference. It’s literally nothing to pull the JWAC plug the ports on block with plates and bolt the intake on in place of jwac. It’ll do its job everyone is happy. Don’t believe that ######## about wide rods narrow rods and by gods
