Wanted to start a thread for the guys running 6 axles . How are you running it 4axle tractor two axle RGN trailer. Three axle tractor three axle RGN trailer? The good the bad and the ugly about it.

Around the NE all the locals run 6.

3 axle truck with 3 axle trailer. Anywhere from 99k to 107k depending on the state.

Except MA and RI will let you do it on 5 with a more pricey permit .

Do you guys think there would be any benefit to ordering a 55t trailer with 60" axle spacing versus 54" pulling it with a three axle truck?

Well lets get the language straight first, when you say "three axle truck" do you mean a tandem or a tri axle? As far as 54" vs. 60", I run in Ohio and they used to give you more weight on a 60" over a 54" but not anymore. I'm guessing some state somewhere still does but not any of the ones around me. You would have to research all hte states to get an idea.

Language is right three axle. Steer axle and a tandem rear.

Ok some guys call a tractor with a cheater a 3 axle, some call it a 4 axle some call it a 4 axle so I just wanted to make sure. I can't see any advantage to a tri axle trailer over a spread for general freight, there are guys here in that segment that would be better to address that.

I think his question is a spread any advantage on a 55 ton ...

Never seen a 55 ton spread, if the op is asking about lowboys that's different than steps.
