When many people don't make more than 20k/yr. starting with the 30k/yr average once you're done training beats out a good number of careers that require much more schooling and much more costs in education and more certifications and licenses. And certainly beats anything entry level minimum wage at Wal-Mart greeting customers or checking receipts.
