    I have a 2000 6NZ
    Pdi stage 1 flash
    78mm borg Warner.
with 880,000 miles, ran the overhead. .037 on the Jake's.. 015 and .030. Exhaust and Intake. Still makes a very distinct pinping noise while jaking on high. Sounds like metal on metal slapping together. It only does this once the motor reaches above 150 degrees oil temperature. When the engine is only warm the Jake works fine. Good boost. Once the noise starts, I loose 3-4lbss of manifold pressure. If I run medium and low jake setting no noise. I assume it's coming for the 3 set of valves, specifically the number 6 valves. When I did the overhead, I looked for anything that was loose or worn. Made sure to seat the valves with a dead blow before doing lash measurements. Purged the oil in the master pistons for the jakes.. I am clueless on rebuilding/ inspecting the jakes.. could someone give me any advice here?

Also a side note I do notice that once the oil warms up I can also hear and feel a decent clicking noise when using full power.

Is .037 a lot of gap for a Jake lash?

    I set my 6TS at .027.

Sorry for the late reply, but when i did the overhead we installed a new turbo, all new gaskets , inserts, and, studs/ hardware. But unless a small crack in the manifold is causing the noise id be really surprised. My guess is maybe something in the jake is work or not working properly. I was hoping to find someone with the rebuild steps/ documentation.
