    before he appears here

i was asking him same he answered that they call combination with single tires , poor mans tag

he says that here you can put old tires from drive axle, we do that on single as well also regroovable tire, and tires with new thread , i think 210kg is too much for twin(that is how much of additional weight you have in twin vs single that include 10.5t asa1000 axle comparing to 7.5t asa700 and additional 2 conti 295/80 tire on steel rims)

It is priced in PROSPECTOR, the Dana S23-190 with a S21-606B tag is list priced at $1376 credit over the standard 40K tandem. That is list price, the actual credit amount is less. You can also get a 23K tag as a $938 credit.

Send me your specs and I'll quote them.

And no sweat about the "rip-off" sales comment. I have a sense of humor....how else could I be in this business!

If I were spec'ing out a new truck, this is absolutely the way I would go. Full locker up front, dead axle in the rear, lift capability optional. Pretty sure you could legally use low rolling resistance trailer tires on it as well, since that axle is not experiencing any torque. Since you have two axles on the ground, I see no need to go to the 23K pound axles.

I'm considering this also to pull super B's. My dealer was saying that I need a single 26 000 up front with a tag in the rear. Weight being carried isn't the problem, but with trains were pulling 63000 kgs.

+ double wheels tend to work better in the winter. Since they can follow the drive tires . Also when you run heavy, even if the single is up to specifications dual runs cooler since get less pressure / tire. It feels better when the scale says 8t on the tag....
On the other hand they are very popular on truck + drawbar since you get the drawbar to follow you a bit better with a steering tag.
Yep single tag is called "poor mans tag" :)

I am still waiting for the spec, once I have it, definitely I will send it to you. After that, we can have a good conversation under "Peterbilt 579", why should I buy the Pete instead of the KW T680. Get ready.:biggrin_255:
But you have already helped me with some useful information. (You misprinted the 060 to 606.) This tag is convert able to 6x4 with the 23-190? I want to leave open this option for resale value or whatever reason. This price includes the differential lock, or that is extra?

You are right. The tag what Petesalesguy priced for me is 21K axle. Basically I should not need the 23K on the drive axle too, the only reason I am considering it, because occasionally, if I deflate for some reason the rear bag, can be more weight on it. Although it can happen only at very slow speed for a short period of time and distance. When I am switching trailer in a snowy yard, or something like that. Do you have any information or experience, how much over weight can be handled by these parts, includes the suspension system under these circumstances?

    Fat Finger Typest!

No, the diff lock is NOT in that, it is always an option. In this case a list price for a single diff lock is $649.00.

Yes, you can convert to 6x4 but the cost will exceed the price difference on a used sale. Unless it is a "deal killer" it is probably not worth doing. Or discount the truck and let the buyer be responsible for the conversion.

I've seen these trucks stuck all the time. On flat- gravel -potholed drop yards. It seems that it could be driver error but I have a hard time believing there are that many stupid drivers showing up at the same place, one after another.

The driver hits the pothole, the drive is unweighted and the truck is stuck.

I guess if the diff was locked and the tag was unweighted prior to getting in trouble it could be a different story. But what do you do if you're at 34,000 on the drives and then you dump the air on the tag axle? That would put way too much weight on the drive axle that is only rated for 20,000#. Maybe OK in a drop yard but not on the road even to just gain traction except maybe to just get going.

As for the 8.2 MPG, that is impressive, but what gross weights are they running at?
