My question is.. Does California Intrastate HOS rules allow for the use of the 7/3 split?
I seem to have a hard time nailing down an answer. Most publications seem to say it is a yes but then the CHP website has a slide show info page on HOS and one section mentions Interstate and intrastate (California) side by side. Shows 8/2 or 7/3 for interstate but only shows 8/2 split for California Intrastate.
Any of you California guys know for sure one way or the other?

CA INTRASTATE HOS SPLIT-BREAK
CA Intrastate requires 8 & 2 split. 7 & 3 won't be legal for CA intrastate
1. Two periods combined to equal at least 10 hour Off-Duty
2. One period must be at least 8, but less than 10 hours in the sleeper berth combined with another period of at least 2 hours:
3. Off-duty, sleeper berth or off-duty combined with sleeper berth.
4. The sleeper berth period of at least 8 hours is not counted against the 16 hour driving window.Last edited: Dec 26, 2024
