All that matters is if thats what you want to do. Can you make enough money doing it? and can you find a company that operates that way.

To big a company for me but makes for good productivity on the 7/7 program.
roehl started the 7/7 deal transport america just copying when in fact i had the idea before either of them they can both kiss my ###.:biggrin_2559:
roehl has had alot of success with the program so you c other large carriers trying to copy them and some have with just as much success.

Its really a win win deal for the driver and carrier the truck stay's movin and the driver stays happy.

To anyone running in such a program regardless of company:

Could you please answer the following questions:

    1) how many miles per week worked (so this DOES NOT include the week that you are off)?

    2) Can you get back exactly 7 days later on the dot, or is it loose. Note: i need to be back everyother weekend no later than friday night. Looong story.

    3) How is your work schedule? Erratic or pretty steady. In other words, are you generally sleeping at the same general time each night/day?

If that is $30k take home, i would be making about $9k more than my current 9-5 full time job (Network Tech) here in BFE.
Not bad considering its more or less a part time 7/7 deal. If this is acceptable money, may be a good way to put in the first year and a half at a starter company getting experience. Maybe slide into the business slow and not get the big shock as a newber.
    Wishful thinking I am sure!:biggrin_25512:

Newbie here so I might be totally off but everyone must understand that the more you are home the less $$$ you will make. I live in the northeast and would love to get home every wekend but that isn't realistic. I would prefer to get home every other weekend and honestly would be pissed if that didn't happen. I understand the to get you home it would take some planning from both you and the dispatcher (please correct me if I am wrong). I talked with a guy from Crete and he told me that if I really wanted to make money it would be best to stay out for 3 weeks. Anyway, back to the northeast, I live off I80 and am looking into companies that I know do alot of work through here so I can get on a dedicated account within a year. This way I might be able to get home more often without sacrificing the miles. Sound like a plan? :yes2557:

Yea Wizard, I am sure they know part time = less $$$.
Circumstances may make it a better fit for some people than a FT OTR job right from the git-go.
There may be any number of reasons a person cant or don't want to stay out 3 weeks and be home 2 days or whatever.

Personally I would like to try the 7/4 7/3 or just a 14/7 deal, just to see. Sounds like a little less abrupt transition for me n my family. I would even be making more than I do now *sigh*.:biggrin_2553:

Okay....so does Roehl offer the Hometime+Plus for the flatbed fleet too?

you are talking in terms of "weekend" I am asking for 14on, 14off or 14on/10off, doesn't matter the day of the week.
so, I'm assuming that trucking is 7/14/365 job, like the airlines?
not a 9-5 weekday job, with weekends off.
granted, I have no kids, I'd prefer blocks of time off for blocks of time on the road.
are there any companys that do that?

Most companies run on a program of one day off for every 7 on the road. There is no specific time when you have to take those days off, and can spend a couple of months out or even more if you want to. There are very few companies that do a 7 on/7 off thing. Roehl is one of them.
