I would request a new fleet manager. You could say this to your current fleet manager, letting him (or her) know that they are not taking care of you by leaving you with a bad driver, and you would like someone else. Maybe they will get the point then.

Every FM has an Operations Manager above him/her. Go into office, request to see the OP manager with your FM and state your problem.
Mniesen89 Thanks this. -
You could just shoot the other driver!
goblue, Dragonfly619, dude6710 and 1 other person Thank this. -
As a previous poster said, "Welcome to slip seating." I drove local and a lot of us day driver's didn't want the night shift driving our trucks, because the best that happened was empty fuel tanks. Many times they would load coal on top of the tarp, tip the trailer, wreck the truck, break the truck, or leave it a dirty mess.

I imagine factory/ maintenance is a bit different than trucking but everybody knows the graveyard shift out produces every other shift.
why?
no white hats (management above shift supervisor) in the way mucking stuff up -
All trucks need mudflaps. Refuse to drive a truck that does not pass DOT pretrip standards. After a few cancelled/delayed runs along with expensive trips to the shop, maybe management will sit up and take notice.
I slipseated for a year and a half. Leaving at 4AM, there would be no one there. I would dump the garbage on the ground next to the time clock in the garage. -
I have been slip seating with a guy for the last 8 months. At the beginning of our time sharing a truck we had a nice conversation about upkeep of the equipment. Sometimes a nice talk about it and setting the expectations helps. In my situation, we communicate daily. If an issue comes up on the truck we make a decision together as long as it is not a DOT item. A DOT item whoever finds it takes it to the shop to be fixed. Other issues we always turn the truck in when we are both off. As for cleaning the inside we buy the cleaning supplies on rotation and we each sweep the truck out daily. If one of us bumps a dock we spend that time cleaning the dash and windows.
Communication is key when slip seating. Neither one of us wanted to slip seat but together we have made the most of it! If talking to him does not help solve the problem ask for a new partner. If that does not work do as others have already said.Trish in SC Thanks this. -
It's why I quit 14/7 and went national.
