I hope this was not driver error... Rip
-
Oh my god. I always was worried about something like this. Wow.
-
There really isn't any other way. If something was defective they should of found it. That's if they even looked.
Drivers get comfortable with certain things. Always crawl under there and make sure your king pin is latched. All it takes is one little bend in a 5th wheel rod to prevent it from latching properly. You can do a tug test with one that is partially latched and think it's okay.
One in a million but it happens. Unfortunately many lost their lives over a lazy mistake by another. I can't imagine the pain of being involved with one fatality let alone seven.
My condolences to all involved.Giggles the Original Thanks this. -
Not good news at all. Condolences to all involved. Going to really pay attention to coupling and uncoupling from now on.

Sabotage has been ruled out?(meaning they are shure nobody pulled the fithwheelhandle)
Condolences to all involved. -
If someone did,I'm sure there will be an investigation and probably surveillance cameras will be right on spot!! And if that's the case, they will be forever in prison!!!! The idiots that pull someone's fifth wheel handle, probably never considers this scenario .... I check mine with a flash light all the time, and follow up with a tug test, but sometimes I feel that I may have missed something, always on my mind after hearing things like this, but this is indeed the worst I've heard of.
This is truly sad and unfortunate,I can even imagine ...
