Very true RickG, But Canada is a different game. Heck when I was running Groceries from Sea/Tac to Fairbanks I had 3 different sets of rules to go by. The 1 for the U.S. (which was the old 10/8 ) the 1 for Canada up to Ft. Nelson and the 1 for Northern Canada/Alaska. Luckily I only work a week at a time so it wasn't a problem.

I don't do Canada! I also had a lady DOT back in 94 I think ask me why I didn't take off duty at home and i told her i took time off at so and so and 2 weeks before that somewhere else! She got pretty adamant that I had to take time off at my "home of record" and I asked her if she had her FMCSA book and when she handed it to me I told her to show me where it said that. She was still standing there looking like a deer in the head lights when a LT walked in and I asked him the same question and he looked at me and asked me where the "F" I heard that? I just pointed at the sweetheart in front of me and he cracked up!

I walked out with out a single extra piece of paper!

Well , I'll tell you . I left KY Monday and delivered in Canada Tuesday . Got back to KY Wednesday and hooked to a tanker to deliver in Canada today . I'll be home tomorrow and Sunday for a restart then load in KY Monday for a delivery in Canada Tuesday . Back in KY Wednesday to load for a change of scenery . Same shipper , same product to be in Pasadena , TX Monday after being home for Thanksgiving Thursday and Friday . All loads are dedicated trailers with all miles paid . I'd rather run Canada than sit around waiting for loads .

Yes true, you can work 700 days straight if you want, you just can't drive without a 34 reset every week.

No, you do not have to ever take a 34 hour reset as long as you stay under your 70. A reset is not mandatory.

The reset is just a way to restart your 70, instead of waiting for hours to drop off every day.

Don't try and give answers to something you don't have a clue about. You do NOT have to take a reset EVER as long as you stay under your 70 hours. You can work/drive everyday for 5 straight years if you stay under 70 hours in each 8 days.

See that lil' recap thingy on the right side of the page? Or the one in the front of the book?

As long as there are hours left tomorrow, you can drive.

Reset is not mandatory EVER. The only thing a 34 does is reset your times to zero. It gets you your full 70 back.

If you have hours available you can drive forever without a reset.
