As long as you pick up hours on the 8th day you can drive each day untill you run out of the hours you picked up on the 8th day. This can go on untill the end of time. There are know regulations (yet) that mandate a 34 hour restart. Since 2004 when the 34 hour restart came into being, I can count on 1 hand and still have fingers left how many restarts on the road I have taken.

70 hrs in 8 days is what it means so if you've done 9 x 7 thats 63hr which means you could drive on the 9th day for 7 hrs only but then on the 10th day you would have to take your 34hr break to gain back your 70 hr credit again so sometimes it just works out best if you take your 34 hr break after 7 days anyway.

If you're on your 9th day, you get to add back in hours to the 7 you have. 70 hours in 8 days. Not 9 days or 10 days.

I'm going to guess you're not referring to US hours of service rules. If you are, you've made a boo boo.

    http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/rules-regulations/truck/driver/hos/fmcsa-guide-to-hos.pdf

Go to page 8 for a description of how the US rules work.

Hope this clears it up for everyone.

yes i'm in Australia however i was over your way back in 2005/ 2006 and drove for a transport company based in Utah so i know the rules bud i learnt by the rules taught at the school or hard knocks . I keep forgetting i'll have to type really really slowly so you can read it easier perhaps. Go and read my post a little more carefully but anyway i'll repeat it again.

If you haven't used up all your 70 hr in 8 days and you want to drive on the 9th day you can only do what hrs you have left so if you've done 9hrs per day x by 7 thats 63 hrs minus 70 gives you 7 hrs so unless you take a 34hr break you must only drive 7 hrs. check your rules dude. Does it take an aussie to teach you the regulations over there perhaps i ought to run for President next election.
