Because I'm a 29 year old hard working man. 14 hours a day is really not that big of a deal for a young gun like myself. Plus I left my family and my girlfriend to come out here to the oil fields and work. That's my life. I have nothing better to do. I put in the hours n make as much money as I possibly can without running illegally.

Yes I'm home every night. We do go out of state occasionally but I haven't been on a out of state trip yet. The furthest I have driven one way is about 150 miles. I don't believe we are in the hundred air mile exemption, but I don't know much about the exemption to say that for a fact.

When your activly backing into a dock, opening doors, straping down etc, you should be on duty. While sitting int he driver seat waiting for them to load you you should be OFF duty. While waiting for paperwork to be approved, you can also be off duty. Most up us log +/- 30 min for each load/unload. less if drop and hook or if the actual time is less. Assuming you drive your full 11 hours, load. unload, fuel and pti every day, your looking at 12-13 hours on duty. not 14. Also since you must be stopped byt the time you run out of 11 you rairly driver every min of your 11 since you need some time to spare.

    Talk about incorrect.....

Go back and read the rules enacted February 27, 2012.

You can be off duty in a parked commercial motor vehicle.

Here is a link to make it easier.

then sit outside the truck and log off duty...the dot officer is not going to stop at the shipper and see that u were in the truck while logging off duty. Hang out on the grass while being loaded lol.

And...that's not even true, because team drivers can be off duty in the passenger seat for 2 hours.

    http://www.oregon.gov/ODOT/MCT/docs/hoursofservicerulemaking.pdf confirms same thing

lol i was typing my response while you typed that. He's been trucking 24 years but clearly hasn't kept up to date with new regulations. I've only been trucking 3 years and already regs have changed. Any trucker, young or old, newbie or veteran...all need to keep up to date on new regulations as part of their job.

Yep I was wrong, knew about the team part, but not solo. It was hardly ever enforced anyways.
