70-pin CAT ECM Differences

    Not sure on the MD Cat's, but 70 pin C-12 and 3406/C-15 are the same. A 70 pin ACERT is different, guessing to do with VVA drivers. 40 pins were the same. Once got a reman ecm for a 9NS C-12 and it already had configuration for a 1LW in it. Folks @ Midwest diesel are pretty good with Cat parts and reasonable.

    if the part number is the same it can be used regardless. even if its off of a machine.
    if it is off a machine and is flashed with CDL protocol you'll need to flash a wash file to blank box it using an ATA bench harness before you write the truck file onto it. on highway is 1939 and will have different comms port locations. usually you use a different harness to communicate with CDL and 1939.

    if you flash a CDL protocol file onto a 1939 ECM with 1939 harness you wont be able to communicate with it after unless using the CDL pin locations and vise versa
