They don't just participate (around Chicago) They do warmups a week before. This year it was one and two weeks before!

As stated. Logged as on duty.

You do not pay them. The government does. (with your money)

Make sure the camera is running to post the LEO's responses!

Says some guy(?) on the internet with full knowledge of the funds and budgets. But I agree that it should be more than one scheduled blitz. One where those that do run terribly maintained equipment can get prepared for. Then run "scary" again for 362 days again.

Looks like at this rate I won't even work for the whole thing. Three years in a row now by chance. At least I'm not sitting in the Freightliner in Albuquerque like I did during the last blitz.

Rest area lvl1 in AZ yesterday. Got the sticker for being a good boy. DOT claimed I'm almost exempt for the rest of the month (unless they spot something during a drive thru IE: lights out, wheel fell off, etc).

I-29 north of Fargo (don't ask...) yesterday, they were set up in the pull-outs on both sides at MM 75. They were taking their lunch break when I went by, so I didn't get routed through. I didn't see any DOT between Grand Forks, ND and Fergus Falls, MN on my way towards Chicago. Of course, I took the back roads :)
