because you are paid to do it doesnt mean the folks doing the paying have to like it

if DOT works for me, then they should treat me like their boss

The last blitz, when they pulled me in for inspection, I told them they need a warrant and if they don't have one, I'll call the Federal Marshalls Service. They looked at each other, then told me to just move on and have a nice day. I encourage all drivers to do this.

Dang. Noticed it during my PT this morning, it was working yesterday. I can see the bulb is burned out but I can't figure out how to get it out of the housing. They're wired to my clearance lights, so when the clearance lights are on, so are my fogs. Maybe I'll make a stop at a TA and get it fixed tonight. Thanks for the response.

Fog lights are not required on a CMV.

§ 393.9 Lamps operable, prohibition of obstructions of lamps and reflectors.
    (a) All lamps required by this subpart shall be capable of being operated at all times. This paragraph shall not be construed to require that any auxiliary or additional lamp be capable of operating at all times.

    http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/rules-regu...mcsr/fmcsrruletext.aspx?reg=393.24&guidence=Y

Subpart B - Lamps, reflective devices, and electrical wiring

[h=3]§393.24 Requirements for head lamps, auxiliary driving lamps and front fog lamps.[/h]
Question 1: Must additional lamps that are not required be operative if all required lamps are operative?
    Guidance: No.

All the communist states participate... They should target all those illegal running companies around Chicago and the unions - they would meet their quota in a heartbeat.

Several years ago I got pulled in and was inspected and was asked to turn on my fog/road lamps and one did not work I tried to explain that I do not use them and he explained to me that if they were on there they had to work. I of course argued but he found two defects on truck and handed me a $134 ticket. I also informed him that he was an ---hole and to have a bad day. That was 2003 and Roanoke Va. county cops were just certified to do DOT checks.
