No, it's an annual blitz where just about every truck on the road gets checked, been going on for quite a while. In fact, that's the only time I've ever had a full blown inspection..

Not quite true, an army of inspectors (state, federal) will be out in force setting up all over for 72 hours straight, however, they still can't get to every truck that comes thru. Any driver worth his salt doesn't mind getting inspected, since he will be driving his top shape truck with his papers in order and then get a current inspection on the windshield. What's the problem with that ?

Oh, so maybe this explains the DPS trooper pulling everything over with wheels down the road from the yard. I've been out of town off duty for over a week and just got back into town. So I went by the yard this morning to let me boss know I was back and to call this weekend if he needed me. Anyhow, I ended up making a couple of trips to the yard through the day and both times their was a trooper servicing some four wheeler. We get one every once and a while but they never camp out all day.

The 72 DOT blitz is only targeted at big trucks

Keep your windshield clean and your dash clear of debris are tips I have heard from officers.

Yes sir, the stretch of hwy near our yard is lined by other oilfield companies on both sides of the road...not to mention near the interstate exit and two convenient stores similar to truck stops. I guess he got bored and started pulling four wheelers over. Like I said, we generally don't have a DPS camped out in the area.

Oh well, I wish everyone the best

Here's the one annual pre-trip inspection performed by many of today's drivers.

If you're one of those, please don't over-exert yourself. :biggrin_25523:
