I'm just thrilled to death about this. I should double the number of drivers on eLogs by the end of the week. Our new policy is anyone with log book violations gets the privilege of going on eLogs.
Good news is there is a local brewery on my way home to I can help manage the added stress.
72 Hour DOT this week...... HOW BAD IS IT???

In talking with the AZ troopers (4 of them) who did our inspection, I was blown away when they told me that I was one of only three drivers so far with an up-to-date log book... and a driver next to me (also from my company) COULDN'T FIND HIS LOGBOOK....
If you KNOW they're going to be checking your stuff..have your permit book handy, your wallet (for your license and med card), and your logbook up to date, even if that week is the only week it IS up-to-date.
I can't imagine calling the company and telling them that you and your spouse (in this guy's case) just got shut down because he'd LOST his logbook.outerspacehillbilly Thanks this. -
They aren't going to be any harder than usual, there's just going to be a lot more inspectors. Last year the national average was 15 trucks a minute were inspected. I went through a check point in PA. They had the trucks rolling through the rest area and giving the trucks the once over. If they saw something that caught their attention they pulled them to the side for further inspection.
I have already been inspected three times this year alone. Inspectors know what they are looking for and are not looking to just shut trucks down. CVSA has set an inpection standard that inpectors are expected to follow. As long as you do a proper pretrip, get issues you find taken care of and don't have brakes out of adjustment you should be fine.Pmracing, outerspacehillbilly and ronin Thank this. -
Thankfully I'm home 2 of the 3 days. I hear logbook inspections are going to be a focus this year.
Oh and pray a light doesn't go out while you are driving.
I'm giving my truck a good wash too and gonna see if that helps my chances of not getting an inspection just for the heck of it. -
How or where did the word come from? If I may ask...
Mikeeeeronin Thanks this. -
Well it looks like I'm going to be sitting this one out due to some medical issues in the family. I'm finally back in town but nothing is posted on the board for me and their sending my truck out with someone else. This generally means yard work...aka boring.
ronin Thanks this. -
canuck in da truck Thanks this. -
If drivers think that they need to do something outside of their "normal daily duties" i.e. logbook maintenance, pretrip, knowing where the permit book is and the medical card to beat an inspection then it's clear they don't care to run their business properly. These will be the same forum members complaining how the industry is trying to get them or DOT in their area is going wild. It's time for some personal accountability, if the most respected people on this forum pass issue free then I have nothing to worry about because I function the same. How about you????

Paranoid?
Possibly, but definitely informed and prepared. Personally, I save this 3 days every year to do yearly spring maintenance. Sanding and painting- this is the last tractor I'm buying, it's not going to be a rust bucket. -
its a good time for a spring holiday---i was never bothered very much during blitzs--just a book check---but why tempt fate--i always thought it was a good time to try and catch up on yard work
