well from my perspective, holding a class 1a licence as well as a motorcycle endorsement for about 22 years, rain on the road is not an adverse condition unless maybe its so bad you can't see past the hood. up here to count for adverse you need 4 sets of triple chains, and a d8 cat tied to the front end, thats adverse. Billybig rig who started this all off with his several weeks of experience..... hmmmm don't ever shift up or down a hill, bull fecal matter. if you don't know when to do it and know how you may be a truck driver but you are not an experienced truck driver. get back to me when you can do both with a two stick 5 an 4. these BS rules about shifting and many other things were made by companies because they think all drivers are too stupid to think for themselves, course with some of the "tools" they hire it is true. I'm just glad I don't run south anymore and don't have to put up with crappy wages and a hole dispatchers. working in the oilfield i had an extremely poor year. I prob worked less than 5 days a month on average since last march, still gonna gross 60k Cdn . plus 50 a day tax free for meals, and stay in decent hotels every night. double bunk standup sleepers, slept in it 2x in 2 years

he has a few weeks or months experience... enough to worry about cooking brakes, and worrying jakes in the rain, but not enough to figure out that if he did have to stop, stopping from 62 or less is easier than stopping from 73+. I've pulled 120000 pound doubles in the mountains empty and loaded jake was hardly ever turned off. most if not all modern electronic engines will kick out the jake if the abs starts to kick. generally i drive conservatively enough that 10-20 psi is all the brake app i see. any more and it is a heads up for me that i wasn't paying attention and i had better start. i typically ride the jake at full and then snub it down if i need to, with that 10-20 psi. that leaves me plenty for a hard stop if i need it
zentrucking Thanks this.
