Are you asking whether it's safe to use jakes in the rain? The answer is yes, in most cases. I generally go even a little slower in rain. It's just too easy for 4-wheelers to hydroplane and lose control. I need to be ready to react to it. 72mph down a hill with 40K in the box, for me, just doesn't give me enough time or maneuverability to do it. I'm sure there are some who can. It's just not cmfortable for me.

I am just now, after almost 4 years, feeling like my truck is an extension of me. I have the basics down and can start developing real skill. There's no way you will convince me you had the kind of skill necessary to handle an emergency going 72mph down a hill in the rain with a load heavy enough to push you 10mph above your governor against your gearing and jake with less than a month on your own.

I wish you the best in your future endeavors.

Well without reading the rest of this thread, I my as well just jump right it.
If you do not know how to properly slow down a truck, no matter how steep a hill is, then you do not belong in a truck in the first place..

Ever thought of using the engine brake combined with the brakes? LOL I stay at the posted speed limit or below going down steep hills so a little hill shouldn't be a problem. I haven't ever burned up my brakes staying at the speed limit.
