That right there explains it all, MelTom. Some drivers just absolutely hate being told when to drive, and when to stop. I get it, cause I is/was one of those drivers. Used to think the logbook was the enemy of income. Now that I've been running for awhile, I'm beginning to realize the real money lies in running smart, not hard. Is why I prefer to run local/regional, and go home on the weekends, nowadays. But I still think companies like Werner and Covenant deliberately try to burn out the newbie drivers to keep a steady flow of students rolling through their orientations....and I'm currently "driving" for Covenant Transport, god help me...

I wouldn't waste my time working for a company that makes their own regs. If the 8-2 split doesn't work on the EOBR due to programming issues, a quick phone call to the logs department will correct your HOS. My stone age MCP-100 will do a 8-2 split without a problem

If you flag "working" then no matter how long it takes, you are still on duty and voiding your break.

exactly. Even if I disconnect I had to stay parked in front of the trailer until he arrived. If I move 2' my eobr detects it and log dept will wonder why my truck was moving while i was in the sleeper. Incidentally my mcp100 does the 8-2 split just fine.
If I was on paper logs I would have just logged the drop before my break and no one would have been the wiser. but if the co wants e-logs they can deal with the drop in productivity.
Incidentally i find it ironic that my eobr has the same name as the big brother Master Control Program in the movie tron.NavigatorWife Thanks this. -
I had a 27 year driver tell me today it is mandatory to take a 34 hour reset once a week.

I had a 36 minute conversation about Safe Haven this morning after a guy came out of an 8/2 split. Outstanding.

Here is what FMCSA has to say about logging and split logging. I think they actually did a good job explaining how it works.
They have example logs with explanations of different scenarios. I guess I'm just a visual guy who needed the extra help but i think I have it now.

cant even get the #### elog to do a flag event properly. Dont know what idiot wrote the program code for it but he /she needs to try it out in the real world. Then thier failure will be evident even to them.

Yo.thanks man I used it never heard from our transportation Dept. of my logs. I start fresh took 15 minutes hookup logs and PTI, and drove 5 hours 30 minutes, took my 8 hours in sleeper , called to make pick up 30 minutes away, 15 minutes wait for load and drive back another 30 minutes to my first delivery from there, took 2 hours break sleeper. So that completes my 10 hour and drove back to Houston to where I started 5 hours and 30 minutes away.

When you get to the ts drop trailer and log it then. Move when repower gets there. I can't imagine it would take more than 5 mins to get parked/backed under other trailer. Hook/log after your break. Anything less than 5 minutes you do not have to log on duty. So your log dept can wonder all they want.
