Different story up here in MI

Since 1967, the maximum number of axles has been limited to eleven and per-axle load
restrictions have resulted in a maximum gross vehicle weight of 164,000 pounds.

On a side note, I've always wondered what they hauled? Can you give any insight into their loads?

My guess would be mill rolls, temp controlled to compensate for moisture, super heavy. Once hauled one 74k#, 18' long. The warehouse in Burns Harbor,In. at the steel mill
was impressive, millions of lbs. in rolls. I'd like to know how thick the concrete was.

Forgot to add, temp controlled not only for moisture, but to keep the roll at a "constant" temp. to reduce expansion/retraction.

That is real interesting. What is that heavy it needs so many axles and requires climate control.

My grandfather helped build it. He was a cement finisher in his early days, too bad he's passed on and I can't ask him. My guess is 5' thick tho since the floor is elevated above where the trucks load. and to hold that kind of weight, it would have to be.
