And the reset has to be the same basic day of the week, not run a day or two and get stuck with no load for a day and half and then count that as a reset, it won't count. Truckers are going to lose more money, truckstops are going to be loaded on the weekends, esp since a lot of loads can't be unloaded till Monday after 5am. Whoever thought this was going to help should be chained by it themselves and try to make a living.

Huh? 34 hours is 34 hours isn't it? So if you stop for a day and a half you don't get a fresh 70? You joshin me? As far as only being allowed to do it once goes, I don't see how people doing it multiple times are surviving... Wheels gotta turn to make money!

The Government cares less about your hours of service or pay. the trucking industry is very safe and we drive hundreds of thousands of mile in a short time. most people dont drive in a lifetime what we do in a year. Do you really think that you are going to make a living going 62 miles an hour and electronic logs give me a break .Government cators to groups that constantly pull their chain like (madd). they are for the most part stupid to the facts and want too change your life because it makes them feel better about themselves. They use no facts or logic and everytime they do stupid stuff prices go up .like minium wages. wages go up by government mandate prices go up to pay them on everything. so how stupid are these people .just ask them a normal question that you have facts on and if it is something they dont agree with they call you names . The main aspect is Government and most of these groups have a mandate and it is to destroy your way of life and control every aspect of it .I am by no means anti government but do we really need a baby sitter and someone to protect everybody from everything and become more of a nanny state.Get these clowns out of office .Vote keep them from careers in government and dictating our lives

Yes this is the way it is stated I believe under the question and answer about the new HOS.

This is why I don't like it, some weeks maybe slower than others and you will never recoup with the new system.

That's gonna be terrible if you have a light week between two heavy weeks! Oh, I'm picking up 2 hours at midnight but I can do a restart on Tuesday! Thanks DOT, isn't hard enough to get paid out here already!!

the once every 7 days is what confuses me also. i don't know what these companies are gonna do for drivers they can't find a load.

specially when we have to sit for 2 consecutive 1 a.m. to 5 a.m.

Here's my theory on the motivation behind that rule . FMCSA knows there are carriers and private companies with drivers that normally work those hours . The FMCSA is using this rule to force them to work drivers less than 70 hours in 8 days so they don't need to restart . This indirectly accomplishes the Teamster goal of killing the restart . The companies will add drivers and drivers will earn less each week . Then the Teamsters will try to come in and organize them to earn more in 40 hours than they did in 60 .
