After all the time they're stating 14,779 for repairs total. Minus the 6,000 I've already paid comes to 8,779. Is putting a rebuilt transmission, clutch, flywheel housing, bell housing, flywheel, etc, plus a rebuilt transmission really this expensive?
8 work days to replace clutch??

That is a lot of $$$$, but for a dealer to do all that replacing ( depending on the type of transmission, and whether it was a re-man / re-built or.......... ) with what type of warranty, will be a big factor. Also if new or used bell housing and fly wheel housing will make a difference.Overall, that price might be high, but what you had done is very costly at a dealership.Road Killer Thanks this.

Did they say how much the rebuilt transmission cost? Seems pretty high to me even though that is a big job.

$4,000 for the rebuilt transmission.

Well I would think a reman tranny would come with a bellhousing. I've never pulled a flywheel housing on an ISX but I can't imagine it taking a huge amount of additional labour though since the tranny and flywheel are already out.
So you say $4k for the reman tranny. IIRC you said the flywheel housing was $2,500. Clutch kit is probably around $1k. Plus I'd imagine you're looking at $1k-$2k or so by the time you add in flywheel and the misc stuff. That ballparks your parts at around $8,500-$9,500. That leaves around $5-6k for labour. Don't know what their rate is but that's about 50-60 hours at $100/hr.Road Killer Thanks this. -
My rebuilt did not come with a bell housing.. Just the transmission

Did not know that. I spent a total of 12 months working in a truck shop before I said screw it and went to work on stuff with tracks lol.Road Killer and snowman_w900 Thank this.

Right! a bellhousing is usually around 4 to 600 by itself if new depending on your tranny and app.
Also, if there was issues with the old transmission, like a cracked case for instance, they may not have given him a core credit. Core on a rtlo series 13 is exspensive. He didnt mention it though so who knows.Road Killer Thanks this. -
4 grand for a rebuilt trans is about what they charge around here too. Thats at a tranny shop with a one year warranty. They reuse your bellhousing or exchange it if they have one. You can get it done cheaper but not likely to have warranty. Your choice.

That's how much beer it took to get him drunk enough to do it.Road Killer, rollin coal, Lepton1 and 2 others Thank this.
