The benefit of 80’ equipment is something of a quandary on a high rail because the proposed 85,000 wt increase didn’t go along with the rule change, BUT the 4’ front and 6’ rear overhang did. With the extra overhang on a 75’ CX11 you can add another unit and you don’t need the 5’ of extra weight. Add a longer sliding 5th wheel for enough turning clearance and why bother with 80’ when you’re pressing 80,000 anyway.
Cottrell engineers are no dummies when it comes to design and they only considered quick loaders for their initial design. A major consideration was weight distribution and where to put the extra 5’. The end product is only 400lbs more than the 75’ version.
Delavan has an 80’ quick load model but I don’t recall where they added the length. They manufacture in Ga but French company Lohr owns them and does all the design work.
Some design thoughts would be a 4 car headramp with a sleeper. I’m anxious to see what Cottrell comes up with in an 80’ high rail but I don’t think it will be a major game changer.Terry270, Ziggy319, Tropsnart and 1 other person Thank this. -
After to talking to the salesmen at a couple of dealers, the consensus is November we will see the 80 ft cx11. I was told to expect more use of aluminum to reduce overall weight. The flat rail quickloader design that is available now features a belly deck made entirely of aluminum. I'm sure there is probably a prototype out there somewhere being test loaded.

They used quite a bit of galvinized in belly.Tropsnart Thanks this.

About the only worthy 80 footer 90,000 give. As stated a 80ft cx11 if you consistently haul long light weight cars it's a winner however I never saw a load like that. If you are trying to

Does anyone know of any states that they are not allowed in yet?
