Thompson, UT to Chino, CA today....10.5 hours all legal.....About 674 miles......In spite of all the road construction in Vegas and the moronic 4-Wheelers in Victorville....

BTW great time -
my truck is goverend at 78 mph (foot and cruise), if I can do it, I will, and I don't get paid by the mile.

In my mind, 80 is a bit excessive, regardless of the situation. I can understand 70, but at 80 you are risking your and others safety for 10-30 more mph.
Cat sdp Thanks this. -
Factor in Fuel you might get 3-4 mpg with 44 and some change, Well 80 mph? well considering the fact that tires are not rated that high plus 100 degree weather, if in fact both steers were to blow at that speed well , well now it would be hard to control if you can control the truck to stop it and keep it up right, 65 would also still be hard to control if that happend, well let see , is my life ,lisence, other lifes worth gettin somewhere maybe 30 mins a hour faster? not really. so I would say no. Not worth the risk, 65 would be ok.

The chances of both steers blowing are nil. In all the years I've been driving both for pleasure and business, I never lost more than one tire at a time. And yes, there has been times I took the truck over 80.

Diesel fuel prices will make the determination for mosy companies. Owner ops might not care.
