I would, I find my truck has a sweet spot at about 83. Smooth and the engine is in the power band, pulls good and not to bad on fuel.
Running 65 all day i get 6.0 to 6.1.
80 mph i'm still getting 5.6 to 5.8.
80 MPH speed limit. Would you?

i would all day lo9ng we're permitted for 100k gross and i have no issues doing 75-80 as long as its a straight road either flat or lil hills
-
My last trk was governed at 75 and I drove every bit of that.So yes I would drive 80.
-
80 mph, that's it? hell, when i was an o/o my truck ran way faster than that & i would run it like that when i could get away with it.
Rollover the Original and snowblind Thank this. -
You run them speeds it drops a little.
The way the industry thinks is, it is perishables that have to get there. Every hour the product sits on a truck is an hour less the store has to sell it. They want their stuff and they want it quick.
The industry is adapting by moving to team. But as long as the speed limits are there they are going to do them. -
The sooner the ld gets delivered the more miles you get,it adds up.My trk is goverened at 57 but I have a different type of job so i'm use to it.But these OTR trks governed between 60 and 62,how do you do it?I'd have to stop somewhere just to take a nap, lol.

And this week the state highway commision had ruled that the rest of the rural interstates in Texas can go from 70 to 75.
Only the urban interstates will stay at their current speed limits.
