I'm almost positive there's already an 85mph speed limit in UT, WY or CO(somewhere out there)...I drove thru it one night and I distinctly remember that I was all out(at 65mph) and was still 20mph below limit...

This was my thoughts. You know if the speed limit is 85, some young people (& older middle aged people too) will be trying to go 90 & some at 95... You all know as well as I do, there are a LOT of cars out there going 10 over the limit at 80 in a 70. Some get caught & ticketed but in the case of the road in question, that's pushing the speed quite often for cars nearly 100 mph out there.

    LoLlolololoooools!

Americans seriously think that 85mph (ca. 137km/h) is fast?

Go out to Quebec or Ontario, or almost anywhere in Europe, and you might be cited for impeding traffic flow if that's all you're doing on a motorway.

(And yes, I like it that way just fine, notwithstanding those utter ########## abominations known as speed-limiters, but there's a whole 'nother rant a'brewing about that. Watch this space.)

Never had a problem with doing 62 in either of those provinces.

Yep, there are lot's of types of cars in America today, some old, some new, some built for speed, some built for getting into tight spaces, some built for hauling, some built for touring, some well maintained, some poorly maintained ... problem is, many don't know where there automobile fits in or what it can/can not safely do. Imagine some of the worn, damaged tires running at those speeds in the Texas summer ... makes me shudder to think about what many get by with ... by the grace of God, no doubt.
