No. It wasn't. They were a spin off trucking company for a huge timber company. Timber took a dive, plywood took a dive, the trucking company took a dive too.

But, it doesn't change the fact that I went straight to work for them pulling a flatbed, which was my point.

You would be correct. There may be companies which would consider your military experience for their own requirements, although there is a bit of unlikeliness there, since the 915s didn't require you to shift an unsynchronized transmission. I know you learned it in school, but you still need more training on it. If an insurer requires that company to hire only drivers with previous CDL experience, they're definitely not going to count your experience in tactical vehicles.

Since tactical vehicles are not classed as Commercial Motor Vehicles, it will pretty much be for naught. However, include it in your applications anyhow. You may not have been driving CMVs, but you were maneuvering and controlling a trailer, and that could give you one up on the next guy trying to get the same job.

The endorsement alone isn't going to do a whole lot, unless you to go work for a company where you'll be using them. I have doubles and tanker, as well, but I've never had to use the doubles endorsement, and my only tanker experience was running liquid asphalt a couple times. So having those really doesn't give me much of an edge over anyone else, since all anyone else would have to do is take the same written tests to have them put on their license. Hazmat is a bit of a different story, but not really worthwhile if you're not going to use it. I dropped hazmat when I renewed my license in 2010, because I never used it, and didn't feel like spending an extra $94 on top of the $220 I was already spending.

No, it is not practical. At the end of a day driving 10 or 11 hours, you really think you'll feel like taking classes? Not saying it can't be done, but practical? No way. I came off the road in August to go back to school.

Maybe in a sense. But, the times are really rough in the Army. All promotions are at 798 across the board. In my case I couldn't even reenlist for my same job. They only are reenlisted at the needs of the Army. Mostly through the wrapping up of Iraq. I personally think they are hurting themselves. Me and all the other experienced crew all ETS'ed due to the state of the Army. Nobody wanted to wait four years to get picked up for promotion or change to a #### mos. Which pretty much left my unit with a bunch of AIT joes who had no work ethic. Hopefully they learn fast since they are leaving for Afghanistan next month. Which meant the worst type of jobs. Took me some time thinking about it. But I figured civilian would be the way to go now.
